GAD Volunteer Information

Volunteer for the Thirty-third Annual GAD State Competition!

Two hundred volunteers are needed to serve as judges for Speech and Interview and to serve as Proctors for Testing and Super Quiz. Judges serve in groups of two or three for Speech and Interview presentations. Testing proctors assist with test distribution and collection during Arena Testing. Super Quiz proctors monitor students during the course of the collaborative Super Quiz.

Training sessions are conducted on site prior to the competition. All events are located at Parkview High School in Gwinnett County. A map to the competition site will be provided in the preliminary training packet of information that is mailed to all judges and proctors in early February.


Schedule

Friday, February 22, 2019 Judges Descriptions:

Interview judges should have strong interpersonal skills and relate well to high school students. A background or interest in interviewing would also be a desirable skill for this volunteer position.

Speech judges should have good listening skills, be able to effectively assess communication, and relate well to high school students.

4:00 – 9:30 p.m. Speech and Interview judges training (deli meal included) and Speech and Interview events (concurrent)
Saturday, February 23, 2019
7:30 a.m. Testing proctor training and continental breakfast
8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Test proctors assist with six (6) academic tests
1:00 p.m. Super Quiz proctor training
2:00 p.m. All judges and proctors are invited to watch the final event of the competition – the Super Quiz!
NOTE: HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CANNOT BE JUDGES AND/OR PROCTORS
