PROFESSIONAL LEARNING INITIATIVES

Professional Learning for Professional Educators

The core business of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators is to provide professional learning to enhance competence and confidence, build leadership and increase student achievement, while providing the best in membership, legislative and legal services and support. These learning experiences are offered to all educators in a variety of formats at a minimum or at no cost to participants.

The PAGE Professional Learning Department offerings have expanded to help our members face the daunting challenges of today’s classrooms so that PAGE can continue to become an increasingly better professional partner to all educators. PAGE initiatives will define for educators and citizens across the state what is and what could be the role of teacher leaders in helping to shape the future of public education in Georgia.

PAGE Professional Learning develops among Georgia educators high-level capabilities in enhancing and sustaining student engagement and transforming school culture.

School District Networks

School District Networks

District staff, including superintendents, administrators, teachers and support staff, join together in collaborative efforts to address district and regional student needs. Active and developing networks include the South Georgia School District Network, Southwest Georgia School District Network, and the Chattahoochee-Flint District Network.

  • Teachers deepen their understanding of teacher leadership, with emphasis on school change through collaborative work with colleagues.
  • Assistant principals deepen their understanding of their role as leader of leaders, with emphasis on school change through collaborative work with colleagues.

Professional Learning Research

Two studies document improved engagement with students among educators participating in PAGE-sponsored regional learning networks. One study involved five schools in a district in the South Georgia School District Network. The other study researched professional learning outcomes in two Georgia districts, one north and one south. The executive summary “Your Work Matters” highlights key findings. The full report is: “Transformation in the Era of Reform: A Case Study of PAGE’s High School Redesign Initiative.”

How to get involved with Professional Learning

Educators often ask about getting involved with PAGE Professional Learning. Initiative participation is primarily based on where PAGE has ongoing collaborative partnerships with districts or individual schools. PAGE strives to involve as many educators from across the state as possible and we continue to create school district networks.
