PAGE produces live webinars on a variety of subject matter of interest to educators. These webinars are offered at various times to permit the widest possible participation by our target audiences. When a webinar is announced, it will be posted on this page as well as other locations throughout the PAGE website. You might also receive special emails or other materials marketing an upcoming webinar. This site also contains links to archives of previously produced webinars.
What Is A Webinar?
A webinar is a live electronic lecture where participants can see and hear live presentations from authoritative experts via a personal computer. Participants can also type questions to a moderator during the live presentation.
How Does a Webinar Work?
When you register for the webinar, you will be sent a confirmation email that contains a link (URL) and instructions for joining the webinar. Save this email! Read it carefully to make sure you understand how to log on to the webinar.
At least ten minutes prior to the start of the webinar, follow the instructions in your confirmation email, and your web browser will take you to a website where the webinar will take place. (This is called “joining the meeting.”) When you join the webinar, you may first be instructed to download a piece of software, but it will take only a couple of minutes. During the webinar, you will view a PowerPoint presentation and will listen to the presenter over your computer speakers* (see "NOTE" below). This presentation will be live, so you will hear the presenter as (s)he is speaking. The computer screen you are viewing will also have a “Q & A” feature where you can text in your questions to the speaker during the session.
* NOTE: In addition to listening via your computer speakers (or headsets), there is often a "dial-in" option, but the number provided will be a toll call (unless you have unlimited long distance service or use a cell phone with a nationwide calling plan)
Please note that a high-speed Internet connection is highly recommended in order to have a satisfactory experience. It is also recommended that you use high quality speakers (e.g., headsets, Mp3 player "ear buds," or external speakers).
