At the May 2009 meeting of the PAGE Legislative Task Force, the group began its work by carefully reviewing the previous year’s legislative priorities and looking at the document from a historic perspective. Task force members noted that the legislative priorities pamphlet that PAGE has distributed to legislators for more than a decade had become dated, repetitive, and they reached a consensus that it would be greatly improved with a more timely, relevant and succinct document.
In addition, due to the current economic and political climate, it was the task force’s view that a new approach to developing and presenting PAGE’s legislative priorities was needed for the 2010 session of the General Assembly. Understanding that considerable thought and work went into the development of the former document, it should be noted that its priorities and positions will be retained on the organizational website and be available during the legislative session and referenced as "Specific Legislative Priorities".
The new—and we believe improved—version of our 2010 priorities for student achievement and excellence in teaching and learning, incorporates the PAGE mission statement, our core beliefs and goals.
