More Information

Last year, the PAGE office received over 7,000 calls from PAGE members who had legal concerns ranging from contract disputes to alleged ethics violations to law suits from parents. In an effort to help teachers learn to avoid such legal entanglements, the PAGE Legal Department will host a webinar designed to help teachers understand  Georgia's Code of Ethics for Educators and how to avoid legal trouble in the classroom. The event will be hosted by Sonja Jackson, Membership Services Manager for PAGE, and keynote presenters will be PAGE attorneys who specialize in handling legal concerns from PAGE members. In this live webinar, they will discuss each of the eleven standards in the Code of Ethics and give "real world" examples of how Georgia teachers have unwittingly violated--or been accused of violating--them. Webinar participants will also have the opportunity to "text"* in their questions during the session.

How Does a Webinar Work?

When you register for the webinar, you will be sent a confirmation email that contains a link (URL) and instructions for joining the webinar. Save this email! Read it carefully to make sure you understand how to log on to the webinar.

At least ten minutes prior to the start of the webinar, follow the instructions in your confirmation email, and your web browser will take you to a website where the webinar will take place. (This is called “joining the meeting.”) When you join the webinar, you may first be instructed to download a piece of software, but it will take only a couple of minutes.  During the webinar, you will view a PowerPoint presentation and will listen to the presenter over your computer speakers* (see "NOTE" below). This presentation will be live, so you will hear the presenter as (s)he is speaking. The computer screen you are viewing will also have a “Q & A” feature where you can text in your questions to the speaker during the session.

* NOTE:  In addition to listening via your computer speakers (or headsets), there will be a "dial-in" option, but the number provided will be a toll call (unless you have unlimited long distance service or use a cell phone with a nationwide calling plan)

Please note that a high-speed Internet connection is highly recommended in order to have a satisfactory experience. It is also recommended that you use high quality speakers (e.g., headsets, Mp3 player "ear buds," or external speakers).
