PAGE Board Considering Adding Ex-officio
Teacher Academy Seat
The PAGE Board of Directors, which will have its spring meeting in Atlanta on April 25, will discuss the possibility of recommending a by-laws change that would add an ex- officio seat that would represent graduates of the organization’s Teacher Academy.
The Teacher Academy, designed to support promising novice teachers from across the state, has been in operation for several years now and many of its graduates have distinguished themselves within their classrooms and by advancing to doctoral programs and leadership positions within their school systems.
PAGE Executive Director Allene Magill said that the Teacher Academy graduates are becoming an important group within the organization and could bring to the board deliberations a needed perspective, not only from those just hitting their professional stride, but as participants in the organization’s Professional Learning programs.
“We have devoted significant resources to our programs of Professional Learning over the past several years. Many of our Teacher Academy graduates are availing themselves of the full range of learning opportunities. We felt their voices need to be heard as our board sets goals and priorities for the coming years.”
If the board approves the proposal at its spring meeting, a by-laws change would come before the PAGE membership during the group’s Summer Conference in June.
